In just ten years
Madisalsa has become a strong force on the
Midwestern musical scene. Celebrating the richly
varied sounds of latin dance and jazz music since
its inception in 1992, this exciting combination
of ten musicians from very diverse musical and
cultural backgrounds continues to expand the
borders of mambo, merengue and salsa to the
delight of audiences throughout Wisconsin, Iowa
and Illinois. From the traditional to the
contemporary, from Cuban to Dominican to Puerto
Rican, the music of Madisalsa reflects a unique
vision of the direction of popular latin
music. Since their formation, Madisalsa has performed hundreds of shows and received extraordinary reviews. Madisalsa played for the 2002 US Conference of Mayors, broke the audience attendance record at the Dane Dances, and was voted Madison’s favorite dance band for the third year in a row by the readers of the Isthmus Newspaper. In addition to their critically acclaimed debut recording Del Caribe al Corazón—which caught the attention of music editors at MTV and the Discovery Channel—Madisalsa’s music can be heard on their second CD Se Permite Bailar, to be released summer 2003.
